Apple recals problematic laptop batteries
Apple Computer Inc. and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have issued a recall of 128,000 batteries
-- the second in less than a year.
Bill Gates kept the heat on Google yesterday by lifting the skirts on MSN’s new local search and mapping
service. Gates demoed “MSN Virtual Earth” - a new local search service which will combine local search with maps
and satellite pictures.
IBM, Infineon and Macronix have announced a joint research initiative to explore the potential of a new form
of computer memory technology, coined as phase-change memory (PCM).
The solid-state disk (SSD) uses memory chips in place of the mechanical recording system used inside hard-disk
drives, and has several advantages including lower power consumption and higher data rates.
